Wall decorations in homes come in all kinds of colors, shapes and textures. Want to create a space that's perfect in every way but don't have an idea yet? No problem. You can use half-wall wallpaper. This kind of wall decoration will change the style of your room 180 degrees and help you create an interior your family will love!

Half-wall wallpaper – a great way to create an original, functional interior!
Finishing wallpaper at half-wall height is an interesting way to add variety to a room without overdoing it. It lets you visually divide the space and add depth. This solution combines aesthetics with a practical approach to decorating.
Use wallpaper on part of the wall in rooms such as:
- Hallway – you can finish the wallpaper at half-wall height starting from the floor. This protects the wall from dirt, which is almost always a big problem in hallways. Wallpaper is easier to clean than paint, so your hallway will stay cleaner.
- Bedroom – half-wall wallpaper in a bedroom works as a decorative feature behind the bed, e.g. above upholstered panels all the way up to the ceiling. If you like, you can also wallpaper the walls on either side of the bed to bring a warmer atmosphere into the room.
- Kids' room – here you can make great use of our vertical striped wallpapers or create a simple wallpaper wainscot. Another idea? Use animal-themed wallpapers in your child's room. Your child will love it!
So half-wall wallpaper in the bedroom, hallway and kids' room can really make sense. It improves not only the look but also the functionality of these rooms. You can also easily use living room wallpapers – after all, there's no rule that they have to go from floor to ceiling. Hang the wallpaper from the baseboard to the middle of the wall and finish it, e.g., with molding on a wallpapered wall.
How to plan the design? Wallpaper on the top or bottom of the wall?
In practice, there are two ways to finish wallpaper at half-wall height. You can hang it from the floor up or from the ceiling down. It's very important to decide where the cut line will be. Do it precisely and use a trim strip – that way, you'll get a wow effect in your home.

There are two rules:
- Wallpaper on the upper part of the wall visually raises the ceiling and adds lightness.
- When the wallpaper is on the lower part, the room gets a classic, elegant feel.
In high-ceilinged rooms, hang the wallpaper at the bottom, e.g. up to half the wall, as this makes it easier to keep the right proportions. If you have a small apartment or a tiny kids' room, it's better to hang the wallpaper at the top, e.g. from the ceiling down to ¾ of the wall's height. This makes the room look a bit bigger.
Did you know…? Our wallpapers are easy to keep clean and scrub-resistant. You can finish the wallpaper at half-wall height in a kids' room, and then dirt such as crayon drawings will be easier to remove.
You should know what wallpaper for a small room is a good choice. Go for vertical stripes, which make a room look bigger. Alternatively, choose solid colors with a subtle texture. These half-wall wallpapers work just as well in a bedroom or kids' room, especially if the room is fairly small.
Installing half-wall wallpaper – how to do it well so it lasts for years?
Order our kitchen wallpapers, and you'll get a complete installation guide, adhesive and wallpaper cut into equal widths and numbered. This makes hanging half-wall wallpaper hassle-free.
Do it according to the instructions, and you'll have a durable wall decoration for years. Step by step…
- First, get the tools and materials you need, e.g. a sponge, a cloth and a roller for applying primer. You'll also need an extra roller for smoothing the wallpaper.
- Next, prepare the wall surface: remove unevenness and old paint and smooth the surface. Finally, apply primer.
- Check the wall's moisture level before hanging the wallpaper. Otherwise, non-woven wallpaper, for example, won't stick to the walls.
- Then apply adhesive to the wall surface. Do it carefully, as that's the only way the wallpaper will adhere properly.
- Hang the wallpaper from top to bottom, smoothing the surface with a special roller as you go.
- Finally, wipe away any excess adhesive squeezing out from under the material with a clean cloth and press the wallpaper so it adheres perfectly to the wall everywhere.
Did you know…? You can hang wallpaper on painted walls, provided at least 20 days have passed since the last coat of paint.
